I accidently lost some jpeg files using the move and replace function when transfferi

I was moving some scanned images into a folder, some of the images already in the folder had the same name as the new scanned images ie Scan 1, Scan 2 etc. I used the move and replace folder without thinking as I was in a hurry. I still needed the replaced images but now I can't find them I thought they would have ended up in the recycle bin, but they aren't in there?
